Washington, D.C. – Ten victims of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein are slated to hold a press conference on September 3rd on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, with many speaking publicly for the first time. The event, organized by Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY), aims to amplify calls for the complete release of the Justice Department's files related to Epstein.

Rep. Ro Khanna stated in a recent interview, "What will be explosive is the September 3rd press conference that both of us are having with 10 Epstein victims, many who have never spoken out before." He added that the victims "will be saying clearly to the American public that they want the release of the Epstein files for full closure on this matter."

The press conference is tied to a bipartisan legislative effort led by Khanna and Massie. They are co-leading a bill, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, that would mandate the Justice Department to release its files. To force a vote on this bill, they require 218 signatures from members of Congress.

While the House Oversight Committee has received some documents from the Justice Department in response to a subpoena, Rep. Khanna has expressed concerns about the limited nature of the disclosure. He noted that "Only 3% of the documents given to the Oversight Committee are new. The rest are already in the public domain. Less than 1% of files have been released. DOJ is stonewalling."

Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York federal prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in the sex trafficking operation. The case has continued to generate significant public and political attention, with ongoing demands for transparency regarding potential co-conspirators and the full scope of Epstein's activities.
