Paris, France – Argil.ai, a French startup specializing in AI-driven video generation for the creator economy, has successfully raised €4.9 million in pre-seed and seed funding. The capital infusion is set to accelerate the development and scaling of its innovative AI builder, which enables users to create hyper-realistic AI avatars and influencers. The announcement highlights the growing investment interest in advanced AI tools designed to democratize content creation.
The seed round, totaling €3.9 million, was spearheaded by EQT Ventures, a prominent venture capital firm. Additional strategic investors include renowned YouTuber Kwebbelkop, who boasts over 15 million subscribers and utilizes Argil's technology, and Charles Gorintin, co-founder of Alan and a co-founding advisor of Mistral AI. This follows an earlier €1 million pre-seed investment from Seedcamp and Axeleo, bringing Argil's total funding to approximately $5.27 million across seven rounds.
Brivael Le Pogam, Co-founder and CTO of Argil.ai, recently underscored the platform's capabilities on social media, stating, "This is our AI builder. When you can create a Human from scratch. Give them identity, and get millions of views." The platform allows users to generate AI characters, craft their narratives, and place them in diverse virtual environments, complete with branded clothing and surroundings. Argil.ai is currently offering credits to users who express interest in the technology.
Founded in 2023 by Le Pogam and CEO Laodis Menard, Argil.ai emerged from the Y Combinator incubator with a mission to simplify video production. The platform's core offering allows creators to clone themselves into AI avatars from a short video, enabling multilingual content generation and dynamic editing features like automated captions, B-rolls, and transitions. This approach significantly reduces the time and cost associated with traditional video production, making high-quality content accessible to a broader audience.
Argil.ai operates on a subscription model, offering various plans starting from $39 per month, which include different credit levels and features. The company positions its AI avatars as hyper-realistic and expressive, differentiating them from more "robotic" alternatives often used in corporate settings. This focus on lifelike representation aims to meet the increasing demand for engaging video content across social media platforms like YouTube and TikTok, where AI influencers are already generating substantial revenue.
