Denver, Colorado – Boom Aero has officially rebranded as Boom Supersonic, a move announced by founder and CEO Blake Scholl, solidifying the company's identity as it advances towards commercial supersonic travel. "Banger announcement today: @boomaero is now @boomsupersonic!" Scholl stated in a social media post, signaling a formal alignment with its core mission and recent technological successes. This rebranding underscores the company's commitment to reintroducing faster-than-sound flight to the commercial aviation sector.

The name change follows a period of significant milestones for the aerospace firm, most notably the successful supersonic flights of its XB-1 demonstrator aircraft. In January 2025, the XB-1 broke the sound barrier three times, demonstrating "Boomless Cruise" technology, where the sonic boom does not reach the ground. This achievement paves the way for potential overland supersonic travel, further bolstered by a June 2025 executive order repealing the decades-old FAA regulation prohibiting civilian supersonic flights over land.

Boom Supersonic is currently developing the Overture, a supersonic airliner designed to fly at twice the speed of today's commercial jets. The Overture has garnered substantial interest, with an order book totaling 130 aircraft from major carriers including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Japan Airlines. The company is also progressing with its purpose-built Symphony engine and the construction of its Overture Superfactory in Greensboro, North Carolina, anticipated to produce up to 33 jets annually.

The company's vision is to make the world dramatically more accessible through faster, more affordable, and sustainable flights. With over $700 million in funding to date, Boom Supersonic aims for Overture to be certified for passenger service by 2029, offering fares comparable to business class. This strategic rebranding reinforces its position as a leader in the resurgence of supersonic aviation.
