Radio personality Charlamagne Tha God has sharply criticized former President Donald Trump, asserting that Trump prioritizes his own financial gain over the welfare of American citizens. The prominent media figure questioned the tangible benefits of current policies for the average American, particularly regarding their economic well-being.

"The only thing [Trump] puts first is himself," Charlamagne Tha God stated in a recent interview. "What is benefiting Americans right now about what is going on in America? Do Americans have money? The only thing President Trump cares to make great is his bank account."

These comments, made during an appearance on Fox News' "My View with Lara Trump," sparked a swift rebuke from the former president, who subsequently labeled Charlamagne a "racist sleazebag." Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey, defended his remarks, emphasizing that his criticism was not racially motivated and that he holds both political parties accountable. He previously stated he "gave President Biden the same hell" when he felt the Democrat was not performing adequately.

Charlamagne further suggested that the ongoing controversy surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein files could be a catalyst for "traditional conservatives" to reclaim the Republican Party from the "Make America Great Again" movement. He views the Epstein issue as a potential wedge, noting that the MAGA base is particularly concerned by the lack of transparency surrounding the files. This stance highlights his consistent call for accountability from political leaders across the spectrum.

The radio host also took aim at Trump's economic policies, accusing him of making the economy "worse" and criticizing the former president's decision to fire the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner after a disappointing jobs report. Charlamagne argued that Trump, like the Biden administration, attempts to convince Americans the economy is robust despite evidence to the contrary. He reiterated his desire for any president to succeed for the benefit of the country, stating, "I want you to end wars, okay? I want you to keep the border secure. I want you to have the economy booming, okay? I want all these things to be true. I am an American. I don’t care who’s in the White House. I want America to succeed."
