Ethereum's Accelerated Upgrades Propel DeFi Towards Web2-Like User Experience

Paul Frambot, Co-Founder and CEO of Morpho Labs, a leading decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, recently asserted that Ethereum's development pace has significantly increased, paving the way for DeFi applications that rival the user experience of traditional Web2 products. Frambot highlighted upcoming network enhancements and innovative protocols as key drivers in this transformation.

"Is it just me or has @ethereum's shipping pace is back up quite significantly?" Frambot questioned in a recent social media post, underscoring a notable acceleration in the blockchain's evolution. This observation follows the impactful Dencun upgrade in March 2024, which introduced "proto-danksharding" (EIP-4844) to drastically reduce transaction fees and enhance scalability for Layer 2 solutions. The subsequent Pectra upgrade in May 2025 further improved efficiency by increasing "blob" capacity and integrating EIP-7702 for more user-friendly wallet solutions.

Frambot specifically pointed to the transformative potential of future upgrades, stating, "Fusaka is very underrated imo; lower fees + instant feel will make DeFi Mullet even more indistinguishable from your Web2 products." The "Fusaka hard fork," scheduled for December 2025, is poised to build upon Pectra's advancements by significantly raising the block gas limit and further increasing data availability through PeerDAS, promising even lower transaction costs and faster processing times across the Ethereum ecosystem.

Protocols like Morpho Blue, developed by Frambot's Morpho Labs, embody this drive for efficiency and user-friendliness. Morpho Blue is designed as an immutable and permissionless lending primitive that optimizes interest rates and minimizes gas fees, making DeFi lending more accessible and cost-effective. These technical advancements are crucial in creating a "DeFi Mullet" – a hybrid experience combining the robust, decentralized backend of Web3 with the seamless, intuitive frontend of Web2.

The Morpho CEO's confident remarks reflect a growing sentiment within the industry regarding the inevitable shift towards decentralized internet models. "Centralized internet is so cooked tbh," Frambot concluded, articulating a vision where the enhanced scalability, reduced costs, and improved user experience offered by Ethereum's rapid development and innovative DeFi protocols will ultimately lead to Web3's widespread adoption over its centralized predecessors.
