EVject Official has announced the upgraded Escape Connector 2.0, a unique electric vehicle (EV) charging adapter designed to significantly boost safety at public charging stations. The company stated on social media that the new version is "now ready for prime time," offering EV owners a critical emergency escape mechanism. This innovation comes as the EV market continues to grow, bringing increased attention to charging infrastructure and user safety.

The Escape Connector 2.0 allows EV drivers to instantly disconnect from a charger and drive away in emergency situations without exiting their vehicle. This patented breakaway technology integrates with the EV's charging system, enabling drivers to shift out of park while still technically "plugged in." The device is engineered to split into two parts upon emergency breakaway, protecting both the vehicle and the charging equipment.

Developed by Kreg Peeler, EVject's founder, the product addresses a key vulnerability where EVs are immobilized during charging. This can leave drivers exposed to potential dangers if they need to leave quickly. The 2.0 version includes advanced thermal protection with built-in temperature sensors, a crucial upgrade that followed a previous legal challenge from Tesla regarding earlier models. This enhancement ensures safe operation across Level 1, Level 2, and DC fast charging.

The company offers an Emergency Replacement Guarantee, providing a discounted or complimentary replacement if the device is used in an actual emergency. This policy underscores EVject's commitment to continuous driver safety. The Escape Connector 2.0 is compatible with NACS (North American Charging Standard) ports, including Tesla Model 3/Y and other NACS EVs, and is available for purchase directly from EVject.

This release highlights a growing focus on comprehensive safety solutions within the rapidly expanding EV ecosystem. While no direct competitors offering identical breakaway technology were found, the market for EV charging accessories is evolving to meet various user needs and concerns. EVject aims to make quick disconnection a standard safety feature across the industry.
