Flexpa, a leader in patient-consented healthcare data exchange, has announced a strategic partnership with ID.me, a digital identity network trusted by over 154 million users. The collaboration aims to revolutionize patient access to health data, enhance security against AI-driven fraud, and accelerate healthcare interoperability, as detailed in a recent announcement. Andrew Arruda, CEO and co-founder of Flexpa, emphasized the foundational role his company plays, stating, "Flexpa is the rails which critical parts of the modern healthcare data ecosystem will be built with and upon."

The partnership addresses long-standing challenges in healthcare data exchange, where fractured systems and inefficient processes hinder patient access and increase fraud risks. By integrating ID.me's secure, reusable digital identity credentials with Flexpa's claims aggregation API, patients can seamlessly verify their identity and consent to share their medical records. This joint solution is designed to make health records portable, secure, and patient-authorized, transforming a historically fragmented process into a scalable platform.

Flexpa's platform connects to every patient access network, including TEFCA IAS, CMS-9115, and ONC (g)(10) APIs, providing a single connection to payers and health networks covering over 260 million lives. The company utilizes FHIR-native APIs, SMART Health Cards, and QR codes to streamline data sharing and patient check-in workflows. This approach aligns with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) vision for a "connected ecosystem" and aims to "kill the clipboard" by December 31, 2025.

Blake Hall, Founder and CEO of ID.me, highlighted the critical role of trust in this initiative, stating, "Trust is the foundation of interoperability." The combined expertise of Flexpa and ID.me is set to provide a secure and seamless way for patients to take control of their records while protecting against the surge of AI-driven fraud. This collaboration is expected to accelerate innovation by offering enterprises a secure and scalable foundation for building modern healthcare applications.

Flexpa, founded in January 2021, previously secured an $8.5 million seed round led by General Catalyst in June 2022. The company's mission is to empower patients with their data and equip developers to build transformative healthcare experiences, ensuring affordable, high-quality care. This latest partnership with ID.me marks a significant step forward in achieving a patient-centered, interoperable healthcare future.
