New York – Sonali Basak, formerly the lead Wall Street correspondent for Bloomberg Television, has been appointed Chief Investment Strategist at iCapital, a global fintech company specializing in alternative investments. The move, widely reported, including by Barron's Online, signifies a strategic enhancement to iCapital's thought leadership and market perspective. Basak officially begins her new role on September 2.

In her new capacity, Ms. Basak will be instrumental in developing and delivering iCapital's strategic investment outlook across both public and private markets. Her responsibilities include providing actionable insights and strengthening the firm's position as a trusted industry voice. This appointment follows her extensive career at Bloomberg, where she gained a reputation for securing interviews with top Wall Street CEOs and breaking market-moving news.

iCapital operates a significant platform, servicing approximately $945 billion in assets across public and private markets as of June 30. The company's ecosystem connects over 3,000 wealth management firms and 114,000 financial professionals, providing them with access to a diverse range of non-traditional investment products. This robust infrastructure underscores iCapital's role in democratizing access to alternative assets.

Lawrence Calcano, Chairman and CEO of iCapital, expressed enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, "She is an exceptional thought leader who brings a journalist’s curiosity, a strategist’s insight, and a communicator’s instinct." Calcano emphasized that Basak will be crucial in shaping iCapital’s market perspective as public and private markets continue to converge. Ms. Basak herself remarked, "My role will be to deliver data-driven and actionable insights to iCapital’s clients and partners across both public and private markets."

The hiring of a prominent financial journalist like Basak highlights a growing trend among financial firms to shape investment narratives and engage clients through sophisticated content strategies. Basak, who holds an MBA in Quantitative and Corporate Finance from NYU Stern School of Business, succeeds Anastasia Amoroso, who departed iCapital in June.
