Mosab Hassan Yousef, the estranged son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, has ignited controversy with a recent social media post asserting exclusive Jewish historical, archaeological, and legal rights to the land, specifically referencing Hebron and dismissing Palestinian identity as lacking ancient roots. Yousef, a prominent pro-Israel advocate and former Shin Bet informant, made these assertions on X, formerly Twitter.
In his tweet, Yousef stated, "Walk Hebron-Abraham, Jacob, alive in stone. Bible names every hill, Quran doesn't even name the place." He further claimed, "Archaeology? Hebrew bones predate Islam, Romans, Babylonians, and Greeks, by millennia." These statements underscore his belief in a deep, uninterrupted Jewish connection to the land based on religious and archaeological evidence.
Yousef also addressed the legal framework, asserting, "Legally? Israel wins: Balfour, San Remo, UN partition-Jews said yes, Arabs and Muslims attacked. Their right is conquest; Israel's is signed paper." He concluded his controversial post by declaring, "Palestinian identity's borrowed-no ancient roots, just squatting on Jewish land like thieves in a stolen house. No legitimacy, no history, no deed. Jews own it-history, scripture, shovel, law. End of."
Mosab Hassan Yousef gained prominence after defecting from Hamas and working as an Israeli intelligence asset, a story chronicled in his autobiography "Son of Hamas." He has since become a vocal critic of Hamas and a staunch supporter of Israel, often making inflammatory remarks that have drawn accusations of Islamophobia and generated significant debate. His views frequently challenge established narratives regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing what he perceives as the historical and legal primacy of Jewish claims while rejecting the legitimacy of Palestinian nationhood.
