New York, NY – Questions are mounting within Republican circles regarding the strategic direction of Curtis Sliwa's 2025 New York City mayoral campaign, particularly after former Mayor Rudy Giuliani reportedly failed to respond to inquiries about Sliwa's "path to victory." The lack of communication has been described as "disturbing" by some, prompting calls for greater transparency among Republicans.

The concerns emerged following a social media post on X by user Ben B@dejo, who stated, "Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani wrote to me on X on behalf of the Sliwa campaign. I asked him for a basic explanation of Sliwa’s supposed path to victory. He has not responded. Something strange is going on. Republicans, we need to ask questions. This is disturbing." This tweet highlights internal party unease as the mayoral election approaches.

Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, is the Republican nominee for the 2025 New York City mayoral election, a position he also held in 2021. Sliwa has previously likened himself to Giuliani and received support from prominent New York Republicans. However, his current campaign faces significant pressure from within the party to withdraw.

Influential figures, including WABC Radio CEO John Catsimatidis and former President Donald Trump, have publicly urged Sliwa to exit the race. Their aim is to consolidate Republican and centrist votes behind independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, in an effort to prevent Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani from winning. Sliwa, however, has firmly rejected these calls, stating, "The billionaires can conspire to pick their candidate … I trust the people. They will make the decision. I will not drop out."

Sliwa's steadfast refusal to step aside has created a complex dynamic in the race. He is currently polling third behind Mamdani and Cuomo, despite the attempts by some Republicans to clear the field. The ongoing internal discord and Giuliani's reported silence add another layer of intrigue to an already contentious electoral landscape in New York City.
