New research by economist Daniel Di Martino reveals that Indian immigrants and their descendants contribute an average of $1.7 million to the U.S. federal budget over a 30-year period, marking the highest fiscal contribution among all immigrant communities. This significant finding has prompted Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu to issue a public call for Indian diaspora to consider returning to their home country, emphasizing India's growing need for its brightest minds.

The study, shared by Di Martino, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, highlights the substantial economic impact of Indian-origin individuals in the United States. According to the data, this group demonstrates the highest per capita fiscal contribution, underscoring their integral role in the American economy. Di Martino's research often focuses on immigration economics, including selection, assimilation, and highly skilled immigration.

Reacting to these statistics, Sridhar Vembu, former CEO of Zoho, stated on X, "Indian immigrants make the highest fiscal contribution to their host nation, as the chart below shows. India sent her best." He further urged the next generation of Indian-origin professionals to build their futures in India, adding, "From the migrant perspective, why stay where you are not welcome? Bharat Mata wants you, needs you and welcomes you! Come home, let’s create a strong and prosperous Bharat."
