King Princess's Third Album 'Girl Violence' Set for September 12 Release

Mikaela Straus, widely known by her stage name King Princess, is set to release her highly anticipated third studio album, "Girl Violence," on September 12, 2025. This album marks a significant new chapter for the artist, as it will be her first release under the section1 label. As highlighted by The New Yorker, Straus, who grew up immersed in a recording studio environment, has returned to her roots to craft a sound that is uniquely her own.

The album emerges from a period of profound personal and professional transformation for Straus. Following a long-term relationship's end and her departure from a major record label, she relocated from Los Angeles back to her native New York City. This journey of self-discovery and artistic liberation is central to "Girl Violence," which is described as her "most personal and unapologetic work to date," capturing the "chaos, clarity, and catharsis of starting over."

Thematically, "Girl Violence" delves into complex emotional landscapes, with Straus explaining the title as "deeply emotional, spiritual, and spooky." The lead single, "RIP KP," which she debuted on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, is characterized by the artist as "a slutty anthem for the lesbians," exploring uninhibited desire. Another track, "Cry Cry Cry," has been described as a "cathartic blast of guitar-driven vengeance."

The album was co-produced with Jake Portrait and Aire Atlantica, and features a notable collaboration with Joe Talbot of the band Idles. In support of the new release, King Princess has announced an extensive global tour, with dates scheduled across North America, the UK, and Europe beginning in October.

Beyond her musical endeavors, Mikaela Straus has expanded her presence into acting, showcasing her versatility as a multi-hyphenate artist. She is currently starring in the new season of "Nine Perfect Strangers" alongside Nicole Kidman. Additionally, Straus is slated to make her film debut in the upcoming movie "Song Sung Blue."
