Massie and Self Advance "BINDING" Legislation for Epstein File Transparency

Washington, D.C. – Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has publicly acknowledged Representative Keith Self's (R-TX) sponsorship of "BINDING legislation" aimed at delivering transparency for Americans and justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein. The announcement, made via social media, underscores a growing bipartisan effort in the U.S. House of Representatives to compel the release of comprehensive records related to the late convicted sex offender.

The legislative push, spearheaded by Congressman Massie alongside Representative Ro Khanna (D-CA), seeks to mandate the Department of Justice (DOJ) to make publicly available all unclassified records, documents, communications, and investigative materials linked to Epstein. This includes files from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, with a proposed release timeframe of 30 days once the measure becomes law. Massie has initiated a discharge petition, a procedural maneuver to force a vote on the bill if House leadership does not schedule it.

This effort comes despite President Donald Trump's public urging for supporters to dismiss the Epstein matter, which he has labeled a "hoax." Massie, however, remains firm, stating, "the American people deserve to know what was in those files, and I think we've got to get as much justice for the victims as we can." The move has highlighted a division within the Republican Party, with some members aligning with Massie and Khanna against the President's wishes.

The proposed legislation aims to uncover information about potential collaborators in Epstein's child trafficking ring, a key demand from those seeking full accountability. While the DOJ has previously stated that only a fraction of material would have been aired publicly had Epstein gone to trial, proponents of the bill argue that further transparency is crucial for justice. The discharge petition requires 218 signatures to force a House vote, and its proponents are actively building momentum for its passage.
