Rome, Italy – Italian film companies Minerva Pictures and TVCO have forged a strategic international sales partnership, with both entities projecting a consolidated sales increase of at least 40% within the first two years. The collaboration, announced earlier this year, aims to enhance their competitive edge in acquiring and distributing a broader range of films globally.
The partnership involves joint acquisition of films, shared expertise, and the combined leverage of over 2,000 titles, encompassing both new releases and extensive library content. Minerva Pictures, established over seven decades ago, focuses on commercial features, while TVCO specializes in international sales of art house films. This alliance is designed to allow them to compete more effectively with larger international sales agents.
Gianluca Curti, President and CEO of Minerva Pictures, stated, "We think that joining forces with TVCO, a company that has proven experience in distributing independent films, will be beneficial to diversify and broaden Minerva’s strategy." Vincenzo Mosca, CEO of TVCO, added, "Together with Minerva Pictures, we will have the opportunity to maximise our capabilities and create synergies that will bring tangible benefits to both companies."
In recent developments, TVCO independently acquired the international rights to Vittorio De Sica’s restored 4K version of "The Gates of Heaven," a 1945 film presented at the Cannes Marché du Film. Additionally, the joint venture has already begun acquiring new titles, including Kat Rohrer’s comedy romance "What A Feeling" and the Greek drama "Utopolis," which premiered at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The companies will also handle worldwide sales for Carlo Hintermann's upcoming drama "Fish," starring Tim Roth and Hunter Schafer.
