Momentic, an AI-native software testing and verification platform, has announced it has successfully raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. The significant investment was led by Standard Capital, with additional participation from Dropbox Ventures and existing investors including Y Combinator, FCVC, Transpose Platform, and Karman Ventures. This funding aims to accelerate the company's mission to establish itself as the definitive source of truth for software quality in an era of rapidly accelerating AI-generated code.
The Series A funding builds upon a previous $3.7 million seed round, bringing Momentic's total funding to $18.7 million. Standard Capital, an AI-native Series A firm, led the round, recognizing Momentic's potential to address critical challenges in modern software development. The capital infusion is earmarked for expanding the engineering team, accelerating product development, and scaling go-to-market efforts.
Momentic addresses a growing industry challenge where, as co-founder Wei-Wei Wu stated, "Today, teams ship AI-generated code faster than they can verify it." The company's platform allows development teams to describe critical user flows in plain English, with its AI automatically handling test execution, navigating user interfaces, and validating results. This approach aims to provide a robust verification layer that adapts to UI changes, reducing the brittleness often associated with traditional testing tools.
Since its founding in late 2023, Momentic has rapidly gained traction, boasting over 2,600 users including companies like Notion, Xero, Bilt, Webflow, and Retool. The platform has demonstrated remarkable scale, executing more than 200 million test steps in the last month alone and over 2 billion steps since 2024. This level of automation is equivalent to nearly 300,000 hours of manual testing, significantly streamlining quality assurance processes.
While Momentic differentiates itself from open-source frameworks like Playwright and Selenium through its AI-driven simplicity, the company also faces potential competition from evolving foundation models. Both OpenAI and Anthropic are developing agentic testing capabilities, which could impact the enterprise SaaS market for testing solutions. Momentic, founded by Wei-Wei Wu and Jeff An, aims to solidify its position by continuing to innovate and provide intelligent guardrails for AI-accelerated development.
