A new generative art collection is set to launch on the Bitcoin blockchain tomorrow, October 31, 2025, with an exclusive offering for existing OnChainMonkey (OCM) Genesis holders. The project, a collaboration between digital artists @heavysided and @RabbiGains, promises unique matching art for those who own the pioneering OCM Genesis Ordinals. The announcement was made by Danny Huuep, who stated, "I hear there's a fun generative art mint on Bitcoin tomorrow. And if you have an @OnChainMonkey Genesis, you can get the matching art."
This upcoming mint is spearheaded by Metablend Studios, a venture by @heavysided and @RabbiGains, known for their work in fusing art and technology on the Bitcoin blockchain using the Ordinals protocol. Metablend Studios has previously released "Squared" and "Metablends," recognized as some of the earliest generative art collections on Bitcoin. The studio aims to push the boundaries of on-chain art, creating immersive experiences for collectors.
The OnChainMonkey Genesis collection holds a significant place in the Bitcoin Ordinals ecosystem. Originally launched on Ethereum in 2021, the 10,000-piece collection made history by migrating entirely to Bitcoin in February 2023, becoming the first 10K Ordinals collection to do so. This transition utilized groundbreaking technologies like Parent-Child Provenance, Recursion, and Reinscription, setting new standards for digital assets on the most secure blockchain.
Metagood, the company behind OnChainMonkey, led the migration, which involved a community DAO vote and a substantial investment. OCM Genesis Ordinals are inscribed on rare Block 9 satoshis, and each piece provides holders with four distinct digital assets. This established legacy and technical innovation make OCM Genesis a notable precedent for new projects building on Bitcoin Ordinals.
The new generative art mint is expected to further integrate the OCM Genesis community into the evolving Bitcoin art landscape. Offering matching art for Genesis holders leverages the established value and community of OCM, potentially driving significant interest and participation in the new collection. This strategy highlights a growing trend of interconnectedness and utility within the Bitcoin Ordinals space.
