London, UK – Nothing, the consumer tech brand known for its distinctive design, is set to officially launch its new flagship true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, the Nothing Ear 3, on September 18. The announcement comes as the company revealed the device's design, which includes a notable "Talk button" on its charging case, prompting tech journalist Ray Wong to tweet, "> Nothing Ear 3 is giving off major Talkboy vibes."

The Ear 3 introduces several design changes while retaining Nothing's signature transparent aesthetic. The charging case now features a metallic finish, reportedly made from 100 percent recycled anodised aluminum, replacing the transparent plastic grooves of its predecessor. The earbuds themselves maintain transparent stems with metallic components, and the case's top lid remains transparent, adhering to the brand's visual identity.

A key new element is the "Talk button" on the front of the charging case, whose precise function remains officially unconfirmed. Speculation suggests it could activate a "Super Mic" for enhanced voice clarity in noisy environments, facilitate content creation, or even enable a walkie-talkie mode between the earbuds. This feature aligns with the "Talkboy vibes" noted by Wong, hinting at a focus on advanced audio communication.

Nothing has also reverted to its numerical naming scheme for this release, following feedback from users after its previous model was simply called "Nothing Ear." The Ear 3 is technically the fourth product in the series, succeeding the Ear (1), Ear (2), and Nothing Ear. This decision aims to simplify product identification for consumers.

Anticipated improvements for the Ear 3 include enhanced sound quality, potentially through a dual-driver system, and better Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The launch of the Ear 3 follows a busy period for Nothing, which recently introduced its Phone 3 smartphone and Headphone 1 over-ear noise-canceling headphones, further expanding its ecosystem of uniquely designed tech products.
