Gunzilla Games' cyberpunk battle royale title, Off The Grid, is officially set to launch on Steam on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The game's official social media account, @playoffthegrid, announced the date, stating, "Zeroes, brace yourselves! The platform war power balance is shifting." This move expands the game's reach to Steam's vast user base, following its early access availability on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store since October 2024.

Off The Grid, developed by Gunzilla Games with creative direction from Neill Blomkamp (District 9), is a third-person shooter that combines a 150-player PvP battle royale mode with a 60-hour narrative campaign. The game is known for its unique cybernetic limb customization and an in-game economy that leverages blockchain technology, allowing players to trade items as NFTs using the $GUN token.

The Steam launch is particularly notable given Valve's long-standing policy against games that incorporate blockchain technology, NFTs, or cryptocurrencies. Industry observers and reports suggest that the Steam version of Off The Grid will likely omit these blockchain elements to comply with the platform's guidelines, effectively offering a "web2" version of the game. This adaptation highlights the ongoing tension and evolution in how traditional gaming platforms integrate or restrict emerging technologies.

Vlad Korolov, CEO and co-founder of Gunzilla Games, emphasized the significance of this expansion, stating, "Bringing Off The Grid to Steam is a major milestone for us, not just because of the platform's reach, but because it allows us to welcome an entirely new wave of players." The Steam release will also feature full cross-play support, enabling players across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation to compete together, aiming to foster a unified and expanded player community.

Ahead of its Steam debut, Off The Grid has received several gameplay updates, including a 30% reduction in Time-to-Kill (TTK) across weapons, new spread mechanics, and ongoing background testing for a ranked mode. While the game has faced some community scrutiny regarding alleged unpaid prize pools from past events, Gunzilla Games continues active development, with some players publicly confirming recent payments. The upcoming launch is poised to be a critical step in the game's growth and its position within the competitive online shooter landscape.
