OpenAI and Anthropic Project $22 Billion in New Revenue, Nearing Half of Public Software Sector's Growth

Leading artificial intelligence developers OpenAI and Anthropic are projected to collectively add approximately $22 billion in net new run-rate revenue this year. This substantial figure represents nearly half of the total net new run-rate revenue anticipated from the entire public software universe, excluding the 'Magnificent Seven' tech giants, which is estimated at $46 billion. "Wild stat: Anthropic and OpenAI by themselves will add $22B of net new runrate revenue this year. That's almost half of what the public software universe (ex MAG7) of over 100 companies will add in net new runrate revenue this year ($46B)." Anthropic, known for its Claude AI models, has also demonstrated explosive growth, particularly in the enterprise sector. The company's annualized revenue reportedly hit $5 billion by July 2025, a significant jump from nearly $1 billion at the end of 2024 and $3 billion by May 2025.
