San Francisco-based AI software development platform Replit has announced a significant funding round, securing $250 million that propels its valuation to $3 billion. This investment, led by Prysm Capital, marks nearly a threefold increase from its previous valuation and coincides with the launch of Agent 3, its most advanced autonomous AI agent. The news, initially shared by Shirin Ghaffary, highlights the company's rapid growth and strategic expansion in the AI-driven coding landscape.

The $250 million financing round saw participation from new strategic investors including Amex Ventures and Google's AI Futures Fund, alongside deepened investments from existing backers like Y Combinator, Craft, Andreessen Horowitz, and Coatue. This latest capital infusion follows Replit's 2023 raise of $97.4 million, which valued the company at $1.16 billion. The substantial increase reflects strong investor confidence in Replit's "vibe-coding" approach and its burgeoning market position.

Replit has demonstrated impressive financial growth, with its annualized revenue soaring from $2.8 million to $150 million in less than a year, representing a more than 50-fold increase. This rapid acceleration is fueled by a global community of over 40 million users, including 500,000 professional users. The platform's success is attributed to its ability to democratize software development, enabling individuals and enterprises to build applications using natural language.

Concurrent with the funding announcement, Replit introduced Agent 3, a breakthrough in autonomous software development. This new agent is ten times more autonomous than previous versions, capable of testing and fixing its own code and building custom agents and workflows. Replit CEO Amjad Masad stated, > "With the raise and our new AI Agent, we are positioned to supercharge customer traction to become the standard for enterprises."

The newly acquired funds are earmarked for scaling operations, accelerating product development, and facilitating global expansion, as Replit aims to redefine work in the AI era. The company's products are now also available to global customers through the Google Cloud Marketplace, further expanding its reach. This investment underscores a broader trend of significant venture capital interest in AI code-generation firms, with competitors like Cursor also recently securing large valuations.
