Indianapolis, IN – New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu secured her second WNBA All-Star 3-point contest championship on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Ionescu delivered a dominant performance in the final round, scoring 30 points to defeat defending champion Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream. This victory solidifies her status as one of the league's premier sharpshooters. Ionescu's latest triumph adds to her impressive record, following her historic 2023 win where she set an all-time record for both the WNBA and NBA 3-point contests with an astonishing 37 points. Her 30-point final round this year marks only the third time a WNBA player has reached or surpassed that score since the current format was adopted in 2021, matching Allie Quigley's previous high. She had opted out of the 2024 contest but competed in a special shootout against Stephen Curry during the NBA All-Star weekend. In the 2025 contest, Ionescu advanced to the final round with a strong initial score of 25 points, tying with Gray. The New York Liberty celebrated a sweep of Friday night's events, as Ionescu's teammate Natasha Cloud also clinched the Skills Challenge title. Ionescu's performance included an impressive streak of 11 consecutive shots made at one point, reminiscent of her 2023 record-setting display. With this win, Ionescu joins Allie Quigley as the only players in WNBA history to win the 3-point contest multiple times. Further demonstrating her commitment, Ionescu announced she would donate half of her $62,575 prize money to Washington Mystics rookie Sonia Citron, who also participated in the contest. Despite a career-low 32.4% shooting from beyond the arc this season, Ionescu's contest victory underscores her exceptional shooting prowess.
