Starknet, a leading Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution, is embracing the "Nounish" philosophy through a new initiative by the Everai project, signaling a significant development in its NFT ecosystem. The move was highlighted by community figure "Brother Odin" in a social media post, stating, "Starkware is now Nounish." This announcement points to a strategic adoption of the Nouns DAO's distinctive model for community-driven generative art and governance.
The "Nounish" concept, originating from the Nouns DAO, champions a unique approach to NFT creation and community building, featuring daily auctions of generative pixel art characters that fund a decentralized treasury. This treasury then supports various community proposals, fostering an open-source and collaborative environment within Web3. Starknet's integration of this ethos suggests a push towards more decentralized and community-centric projects on its platform.
The specific implementation of this "Nounish" model on Starknet comes from the Everai project, known for its anime-inspired NFTs. Briyan, CEO and Co-founder of ArkProject, revealed plans for a new collection called "Pilots," which will draw direct inspiration from the Nouns DAO. "We are going to initiate on Starknet a similar project that looks like Nouns DAO," Briyan explained in a recent discussion, outlining a system where "every once in a week you’re going to be able to bet on an auction and to be able to have one-on-one artwork."
Unlike the fully generative nature of Nouns, Everai's "Pilots" will feature high-quality artwork created by artists based on winners' preferences, aiming for a more curated aesthetic while retaining the auction and community-funding elements. This initiative leverages Starknet's advanced scaling capabilities, such as account abstraction and appchains, to provide a seamless and cost-effective experience for NFT creators and collectors. The integration is expected to foster a vibrant new wave of creative projects within the Starknet ecosystem.
