Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has announced another significant acquisition of Bitcoin, adding 1,955 BTC to its treasury for approximately $217.4 million. The purchase, executed between September 2 and September 7, 2025, continues the company's aggressive digital asset accumulation strategy. This move follows market anticipation, with crypto analyst Ash Crypto tweeting, "> SAYLOR TO BUY MORE BITCOIN 🚀," signaling the ongoing commitment.

This latest acquisition brings Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings to an impressive 638,460 BTC, making it one of the largest corporate holders of the cryptocurrency. The average purchase price for this new batch was $111,196 per bitcoin, raising the company's overall average cost basis to $73,880 per bitcoin. The total value of Strategy's Bitcoin treasury now stands at approximately $71 billion.

The acquisition was financed through the proceeds from the issuance and sale of the company’s Class A common stock (MSTR) and various perpetual preferred stocks. Strategy has consistently leveraged equity markets and debt offerings to fund its Bitcoin strategy, raising billions through IPOs and stock sales in 2025 alone. This capital-raising approach has transformed the enterprise software firm into a dominant force in corporate Bitcoin adoption.

The announcement comes as Strategy faced a recent snub for inclusion in the S&P 500 index, despite strong quarterly results and meeting many of the index's criteria. This exclusion was a point of frustration for many market participants. Furthermore, the company's shares (MSTR) have experienced a 26% decline since July, and its market net asset value (mNAV) ratio has dropped to approximately 1.5x, despite a previous commitment by the company to avoid issuing shares if the mNAV fell below 2.5x.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor has consistently expressed a bullish outlook on Bitcoin, viewing it as a transformative asset for corporate treasuries and a hedge against inflation. His consistent advocacy and strategic capital raises have solidified Strategy's position as a leading institutional proponent of Bitcoin. Adding to the company's recent developments, a class-action lawsuit against Strategy regarding its accounting practices was recently dismissed, removing a significant legal overhang and potentially bolstering investor confidence in its long-term strategy.
