Austin, TX – A notable bug in Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is causing frustration for some drivers, particularly those utilizing ride-share applications like Uber Driver. The issue, highlighted by prominent Tesla enthusiast "Whole Mars Catalog," prevents navigation prompts from appearing when the FSD visualization is displayed in full-screen mode.
According to a recent social media post by Whole Mars Catalog, the FSD visualization, when expanded to full screen, interferes with the display of addresses sent to the car via API. "When the FSD visualization is full screen, sending an address to the car via API doesn't pop up anything on the map," the user stated, adding, "Viz has to be minimized. This is annoying for when the Uber Driver app is automatically sending to my car. Have to redo many times."
This reported bug points to an interface conflict where the immersive FSD display, designed to show the vehicle's real-time perception of its surroundings, overrides critical navigation information. While Tesla has recently addressed other long-standing FSD visualization bugs, such as the "jittering" of surrounding vehicles in updates like FSD v12.5.6 and v14.1.4, this specific interaction with external navigation inputs appears to persist.
The problem creates a significant inconvenience for professional drivers who rely on seamless integration between their ride-share applications and in-car navigation. Users on forums have previously discussed similar display conflicts, with some noting that a setting exists to prevent FSD visualization from automatically going full screen, offering a potential workaround. However, the need for manual intervention disrupts the intended automated workflow for drivers.
As Tesla continues to refine its FSD technology and introduce new features like enhanced 3D visualizations, addressing these functional display bugs remains crucial. Ensuring that essential navigation prompts are consistently visible, regardless of the FSD visualization mode, is vital for user experience and the practical utility of Tesla vehicles in commercial applications.
