Text.ai, a consumer social AI startup, has officially launched its integration with iMessage, bringing AI-powered group chat coordination directly to users. Co-founder and CEO Rushi Shah announced the development, emphasizing the company's mission to leverage technology to foster closer human connections rather than create friction. The platform is designed to streamline common group activities, making social planning effortless.
"voice makes it easier," Shah stated, adding that "technology should bring us closer, not get in the way."
Text.ai, backed by Y Combinator (YC X25), seeks to address the challenges of coordinating social events and maintaining friendships in an increasingly chaotic world. The company aims to prevent missed dinners, forgotten birthdays, and plans that falter due to "decision paralysis or boredom" in group chats. Its AI capabilities are built to simplify these interactions, allowing individuals to focus on making memories.
The newly integrated Text.ai offers several key features within iMessage group chats. These include setting reminders for important dates, quickly resolving group decisions like restaurant choices, and facilitating the planning of actual events. Additionally, the AI can assist in creating and editing images from social gatherings, and notably, it functions offline, ensuring usability even without an internet connection.
Rushi Shah, an ex-Tesla Product Lead, co-founded Text.ai with Prahar Patel (ex-Walmart Labs, Eventbrite, Opentable) and Maniar (ex-Gannett Media, McKinsey). The team's shared experience of technology creating more friction than connection inspired the creation of Text.ai. Their vision is to make AI accessible and beneficial for everyday social interactions, helping combat what Shah refers to as the "loneliness epidemic."
