Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves' mixed-use development, The Battery Atlanta, generated $25 million in revenue during the second quarter of 2025, marking a significant 49% increase compared to the same period last year. This robust growth underscores the increasing financial importance of real estate holdings for professional sports franchises, with the team's total real estate assets now estimated to be worth over $1 billion. The development's success highlights a strategic shift in how sports teams generate revenue beyond traditional game-day operations.

The Battery Atlanta, a 75-acre complex adjacent to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, features a diverse array of retail, restaurants, apartments, and corporate offices. This integrated design attracts millions of visitors annually, many of whom are not attending baseball games. According to Joe Pompliano, who highlighted the figures on social media, "The Battery in Atlanta generated $25 million in revenue for the Braves last quarter, and the team estimates that its real estate holdings are now worth over $1 billion."

The substantial revenue increase in Q2 2025 was primarily driven by a surge in rental income from various new lease commencements and the strategic acquisition of additional real estate assets. Notably, the April 2025 acquisition of Pennant Park, a 34-acre office space adjacent to The Battery, contributed significantly to this growth. Braves chief financial officer Jill Robinson stated that Pennant Park and the newly opened Truist Securities headquarters are projected to add approximately $20 million in net operating income this year.

This mixed-use development model has become a "secret weapon" for the Braves, providing a consistent revenue stream that is not subject to Major League Baseball's revenue-sharing protocols. Braves Development Company President & CEO Mike Plant noted that The Battery welcomed 8.7 million visitors in 2024, generating $130 million in retail revenue for its tenants. The development also played a key role in the city's hosting of the MLB All-Star Game, with Atlanta Braves Holdings Chair, President & CEO Terry McGuirk reporting over 250,000 visitors to The Battery during All-Star Weekend.

The Braves' overall financial performance for the second quarter of 2025 also saw total revenue climb to $312 million, an increase of 10% year-over-year. The Battery's continued expansion, with new additions like Shake Shack and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, further solidifies its role as a significant economic engine. This strategy provides a blueprint for other sports franchises seeking to diversify income and enhance their market value.
