Washington D.C. – Former President Donald Trump publicly called on Microsoft on Friday to terminate Lisa Monaco, the company's President of Global Affairs, citing her past roles in Democratic administrations and alleging she poses a national security risk. Trump's demand, issued via a Truth Social post, comes months after Monaco, who previously served as Deputy Attorney General under President Joe Biden, joined the tech giant in July 2025.
In his social media statement, Trump labeled Monaco "Corrupt and Totally Trump Deranged," asserting she was a "menace to U.S. National Security" given Microsoft's extensive government contracts. He further claimed, "Because of Monaco’s many wrongful acts, the U.S. Government recently stripped her of all Security Clearances, took away all of her access to National Security Intelligence, and banned her from all Federal Properties." Trump concluded by stating, "It is my opinion that Microsoft should immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco.
Monaco's career includes significant public service, having served as Homeland Security Advisor to President Barack Obama and later as the 39th United States Deputy Attorney General from 2021 to 2025. In her role at the Justice Department, she was involved in coordinating the response to the January 6th Capitol attack. Her appointment at Microsoft in May 2025 placed her in charge of the company’s global engagement with governments and cybersecurity policy.
Microsoft has declined to comment on Trump's demand, and Monaco has not publicly responded to the former president's remarks. The call for her dismissal aligns with a broader pattern of Trump targeting perceived political adversaries, extending his interventions into corporate America. Far-right activist Laura Loomer claimed credit for bringing Monaco's hiring to Trump's attention, stating on X, "After I alerted President Trump to the fact that Microsoft has hired Lisa Monaco... he has just called on Microsoft to terminate her employment."
