Washington D.C. – President Donald Trump's job approval rating has fallen to 38% among U.S. adults, with 60% expressing disapproval, according to a new Pew Research Center survey conducted August 4-10, 2025. This marks a notable decline for the President, reflecting a nine-point drop since early February and a three-point decrease over the past two months of his hypothetical second term.

The survey indicates a significant erosion of support across various demographics. Among white Americans, approval stands at 47% against 52% disapproval. Clear majorities of Black (83%), Hispanic (70%), and Asian (66%) Americans disapprove of his performance. Age groups also show varied sentiment, with 33% approval among 18-29 year olds and 45% among 50-64 year olds.

Pew Research attributes the overall decline to a combination of factors, including waning approval among his 2024 voters and non-voters. His approval among those who voted for him in 2024 has dropped to 85% from 95% at the start of his second term, with a more pronounced slip among younger voters. The poll also highlights public discontent with key administration policies and actions.

A significant 61% of Americans disapprove of the Trump administration's recently implemented tariffs on imported goods, while only 38% approve. Similarly, the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," signed into law on July 4, 2025, faces considerable opposition, with 46% disapproving and 32% approving. Furthermore, 70% of respondents expressed disapproval of the administration's handling of information related to the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.

The survey also revealed that a 53% majority of Americans believe President Trump is making the federal government work worse, compared to just 27% who think he is improving it. This sentiment underscores broader concerns about his impact on governance. The Pew findings align with other recent polls, including a July Gallup poll showing 37% approval and a Reuters/Ipsos poll at 40%, placing his current standing among the lowest for modern presidents at this stage of their terms.
