Vallejo, California – A local woman is being hailed as a hero after bravely intervening in a violent stabbing attack, an act that unfortunately resulted in the theft of her vehicle by the fleeing assailant. The incident occurred on August 11, just after 9 a.m., on Miller Avenue near Georgia Street.
Amanda Williams, a single mother on her way to begin a DoorDash shift, witnessed a man bleeding on the ground while another man stood over him, brandishing two knives. "I noticed he had knives in his hand, so then I started to get worried," Williams recounted. Despite being told to "get out of here" by the attacker, Williams bravely confronted him. "He went back to go and stab the guy in the head, and that’s when I automatically just jumped out of the car and ran over and grabbed his arm."
Williams successfully wrestled the knives away from the assailant, later identified as 43-year-old Henry Johnson. As she disarmed him, Johnson seized the opportunity, jumped into her car with the driver's side door still open, and fled the scene. Police quickly apprehended Johnson after a brief pursuit.
Vallejo police have confirmed that Johnson is now in custody without bail and faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, vehicle theft, and evading police. Williams' courageous actions saved a life, as noted by a neighbor, Sherrie, who witnessed the event and called 911: "She’s a hero if you ask me. She did save a life."
The aftermath of the incident has left Williams in a difficult position. Her car, essential for her supplemental DoorDash income, was severely damaged and is currently undrivable. She has been unable to return to her regular job due to ongoing medical issues. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist her with expenses during this challenging time. Williams expressed her emotional relief for the victim, stating tearfully, "I hope you’re doing okay."
