X is set to undergo a significant transformation of its recommendation system, with Elon Musk announcing the deletion of all existing heuristics within the next four to six weeks. The platform will transition to a fully AI-driven model powered by Grok, its in-house artificial intelligence, aiming to enhance content discovery and user experience.

Musk stated, "The 𝕏 recommendation system is evolving very rapidly. We are aiming for deletion of all heuristics within 4 to 6 weeks." He elaborated that Grok will "literally read every post and watch every video (100M+ per day) to match users with content they’re most likely to find interesting." This move aligns with Musk's broader strategy to integrate advanced AI across his ventures.

A primary objective of this overhaul is to address the "new user or small account problem," where quality content from emerging creators often struggles for visibility. Musk noted, "This should address the new user or small account problem, where you post something great, but nobody sees it." The AI-driven system is expected to learn directly from user behavior and content trends, moving away from static rules.

The update will also introduce enhanced user control over their feeds. Users will gain the ability to dynamically adjust what they see, "temporarily or permanently just by asking Grok." This conversational customization marks one of the most ambitious uses of AI in social media recommendation systems to date, potentially reshaping user interaction with the X platform.

Grok, developed by Musk's xAI venture, was introduced earlier this year as a conversational assistant for X Premium subscribers. Its integration into the core recommendation algorithm signifies a deeper embedding of AI into X's operational framework, promising more personalized and relevant content delivery for its vast user base.
