Tokyo, Japan – FormX Co., Ltd., a Japanese startup focused on developing disclosure platforms, has successfully closed a seed funding round, raising a total of ¥130 million (approximately $880,000 USD). The investment round saw participation from lead investor Genesia Ventures, alongside Chiba Dojo Fund and several angel investors, notably including current and former Chief Financial Officers (CFOs).
Ryota Taniuchi, Director CFO of Progrit, publicly announced his angel investment in FormX, stating, "I made an angel investment in FormX, which develops a disclosure platform, for its 130 million yen seed round. It is characteristic that all participating angel investors are current or former CFOs, aligning with the target area. I am looking forward to the future development of the product." This unique investor composition underscores the industry's recognition of FormX's potential.
Established in May 2023 by CEO Tomonori Tokita, FormX aims to revolutionize corporate disclosure processes, which are often manual and inefficient. The company is developing an AI and XBRL-compatible editor designed to streamline the creation and submission of critical documents such as securities reports and financial statements, with a formal product launch anticipated in October 2025. Tokita, leveraging his extensive background in accounting, auditing, and IPO preparation, identified a significant gap in the market for advanced disclosure solutions.
The newly secured capital will be strategically deployed to accelerate product development, with a beta version targeted for completion by August 2025. Additionally, funds will be allocated towards recruiting specialized XBRL-compatible engineers, bolstering sales and marketing initiatives, and establishing robust security and compliance frameworks, including SOC2 certification. This investment positions FormX to address the growing demand for efficient and accurate financial reporting in Japan.
The Japanese corporate disclosure landscape faces increasing complexity, with new regulations requiring Prime Market listed companies to provide simultaneous Japanese and English disclosures from April 2025. This regulatory shift, coupled with the rising need for human capital and ESG data reporting, highlights the critical role FormX's innovative platform could play. The company aims to emerge as a significant "third option" in a market traditionally dominated by established players, offering a modern, technology-driven solution to a long-standing challenge.
