The Bitwise Solana Staking ETF (BSOL) officially launched on October 28, 2025, on the New York Stock Exchange, marking a significant development in the cryptocurrency investment landscape. The new financial product, offered by Bitwise Asset Management, recorded approximately $69.5 million in inflows on its first day and nearly $55 million in trading volume, reflecting strong investor interest. BSOL aims to provide investors with direct exposure to Solana (SOL) and the potential to earn staking rewards.

However, Bitwise has issued clear warnings regarding the investment vehicle's risk profile and regulatory status. As stated in material accompanying the prospectus, > "BSOL is not an investment company registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 (the “1940 Act”) and therefore is not subject to the same protections as mutual funds or ETFs registered under the 1940 Act." This distinction highlights a crucial difference from traditional investment funds.

The company further emphasized the inherent risks associated with BSOL, noting, > "BSOL is not suitable for all investors. An investment in BSOL is subject to a high degree of risk, has the potential for significant volatility, and could result in significant or complete loss of investment." Investors are also cautioned that "BSOL is not the same as a direct investment in Solana (SOL)," despite being 100% physically backed by the cryptocurrency.

Bitwise designed BSOL to maximize staking rewards by seeking to stake 100% of its Solana holdings through Bitwise Onchain Solutions, powered by Helius, a leading Solana staking technology. The fund's management fee is set at 0.20%, with a waiver for the first three months on the initial $1 billion in assets. This structure allows investors to potentially benefit from Solana's average staking rewards, which are estimated to be over 7%.

The launch of BSOL coincides with a "second wave" of Solana-based exchange-traded products, including offerings from VanEck, Fidelity, and Grayscale, indicating growing institutional demand for SOL-linked investments. Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley described 2025 as a "milestone year" for crypto, noting the increasing acceptance of digital assets as a mainstream alternative asset class. He expressed confidence that BSOL would offer a new gateway for investors seeking exposure to the rapidly growing Solana ecosystem.

Foreside Fund Services, LLC, serves as the marketing agent for BSOL. Prospective investors are strongly advised to read the prospectus carefully before making any investment decisions, as outlined in the accompanying material.
