Long Beach, CA – A small business in Long Beach, J&G Market, was looted and vandalized early Monday morning, July 14, 2025, following a large street takeover event at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Harding Street. Dozens of individuals reportedly broke into the convenience store, stealing merchandise and causing significant damage. The incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the escalating nature of street takeovers in the Los Angeles area.

The chaotic scene unfolded around 1 a.m. as motorists blocked the intersection, performing stunts and drawing a large crowd. While the street takeover was in progress, a group shattered the glass storefront of J&G Market and began to ransack the establishment. Video footage from the scene captured the extensive damage, with merchandise scattered and broken glass visible both inside and outside the store.

According to Kevin Dalton, who posted about the event on social media, the aftermath saw no immediate arrests and no suspect descriptions released. > "Small business vandalized and looted in Long Beach after the regularly scheduled street takeover lost the interest of hundreds of felonious hooligans. I hope you’re sitting down, but nobody has been arrested and no suspect descriptions has been released," Dalton stated in his tweet.

Owners of J&G Market, who arrived at the scene approximately 30 minutes after the incident, expressed their shock, noting that nothing of this nature had ever occurred in their years of owning the market. While the exact dollar loss was not immediately clear, a substantial amount of merchandise, including beer and snacks, was reportedly stolen.

Residents in the area voiced their frustration, describing street takeovers as an almost weekly ritual that has become a constant nuisance and public safety concern. Long Beach Police Department officers responded to disperse the crowd, which quickly fled the scene. The Long Beach Police Department has not yet provided further details regarding the investigation or potential arrests. The city is reportedly exploring new technologies, such as speed safety cameras, to combat the persistent issue of street takeovers in the coming year.
