Seattle, Washington – A 42-year-old Mexican national, Jaime Neri-Soto, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for receiving images of child sexual abuse. The sentencing was handed down on October 1, 2025, by U.S. District Judge Tana Lin in Seattle, following an investigation initiated by reports to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Neri-Soto's arrest by Bothell Police detectives led to the discovery of numerous images of child sexual abuse on his electronic devices after a forensic analysis by federal authorities. Law enforcement pinpointed his location using device and internet service provider information, leading to his apprehension.
Authorities confirmed that Neri-Soto was a previously registered sex offender whose registration was terminated in 2017 when he was deported from the United States. During the sentencing, Judge Lin underscored the severe and lasting impact of such crimes, stating, "Children are scarred for life" by child exploitation.
Prosecutors, in their sentencing memorandum, highlighted Neri-Soto's prior convictions involving child sexual abuse material. Following the completion of his three-year prison term, Neri-Soto is expected to face deportation proceedings, as noted by Judge Lin. This case was part of a broader effort to combat child sexual exploitation.
