
Richmond, CA – The Richmond Police Department is actively seeking public assistance to identify a person of interest in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Josue Cornejo. Cornejo was tragically killed on November 17, 2025, near Bissell Avenue and Marina Way. Authorities have released an image of a man in a hoodie, urging anyone with information to come forward.Henry K. He’s person of interest in shooting death of Josue Cornejo, 23, (pic) near Bissell & Marina Way, per @RPDCAOnline, seeking his ID." The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. in the 1400 block of Bissell Avenue, where officers found Cornejo with at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.Cornejo's family has publicly mourned his loss, describing him as "a good son, a loving friend, and a humble young man with a big heart." His mother, Reina Cornejo, initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover burial expenses, expressing profound grief over the sudden tragedy. Some family members believe Josue may have been targeted for his yellow North Face jacket and was heard yelling for help before his death.The fatal shooting marks the fourth homicide in Richmond for 2025, occurring just over a week after the city's third. The Richmond Police Department's investigation is ongoing, and they continue to appeal to the community for any details that could lead to the identification of the person of interest.
