Investigative journalist Tony Ortega, widely recognized for his extensive coverage of the Church of Scientology, has announced the discovery of previously suppressed photographs featuring L. Ron Hubbard's second wife, Sara Northrup Hollister. The revelation, shared via his platform "The Underground Bunker," highlights Ortega's ongoing efforts to uncover historical details that the Church of Scientology has reportedly sought to obscure.

Ortega stated in a recent tweet, "Our helper who dives through old newspaper archives hit on another gem recently that we’ve told you about before, but we thought it was worth looking at it again for its great photos, which #Scientology doesn’t want you to see." This "gem" refers to images of Northrup Hollister, whose tumultuous relationship with the Scientology founder has been a subject of historical scrutiny.

Sara Northrup Hollister was married to L. Ron Hubbard from 1946 to 1951. Their union was marked by controversy, including allegations of bigamy on Hubbard's part, as he was still legally married to his first wife, Polly Grubb, when he wed Northrup. Historical accounts detail a volatile relationship, with Northrup Hollister later accusing Hubbard of abuse and erratic behavior.

Following their divorce, Hubbard reportedly attempted to erase Northrup Hollister from his official biography, even denying her existence as a former spouse in later interviews. The Church of Scientology has historically maintained a narrative that largely omits or downplays this period of Hubbard's life, and has been accused of altering historical records and photographs to align with its preferred version of events.

Ortega, through "The Underground Bunker" and his Substack, consistently publishes content challenging the Church's official stance and providing alternative perspectives based on historical documents and testimonies from former members. This latest discovery underscores the persistent efforts by independent journalists to bring transparency to the Church's origins and history, particularly concerning its founder's personal life. The unearthed photos are expected to provide further visual evidence supporting these historical claims.
