Two New York Men Arrested in Redondo Beach Home Invasion Involving Zip-Tied Residents

Redondo Beach, CA – Two individuals from New York, Jesus Velez, 31, of Rochester, and Draven Luna, 21, of Queens, have been arrested following a home invasion robbery in Redondo Beach where two residents were zip-tied and their house looted. The incident occurred early Sunday, August 17, 2025, on the 1900 block of Mathews Avenue, leading to their apprehension by local police. As stated by Mike Netter in a social media post, "Two Redondo Beach residents are zip tied for hours as their house is looted during a home invasion robbery. Believe it or not, police arrested the suspects, Jesus Velez, 31, from Rochester, New York, and Draven Luna, 21, from Queens, New York."

The Redondo Beach Police Department was initially alerted around 5:52 a.m. by a call reporting a suspect pointing a firearm at a person in a vehicle, though the caller disconnected. Officers traced the call to the Mathews Avenue address and, upon arrival, discovered that two residents had been victims of a home invasion. The suspects had fled on foot just before police arrived, prompting a chase that resulted in their immediate apprehension.

Investigations revealed that the two victims had been bound inside their home for an extended period. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, with one requiring transport to a local hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that the victims are in stable condition.

Velez and Luna were booked into Redondo Beach jail on suspicion of multiple charges, including robbery, burglary, and kidnapping. Bail for each suspect has been set at $100,000. Authorities do not believe there are any additional outstanding suspects, and they have assured the community there is no ongoing threat.
