Tech billionaire Elon Musk has been named in a new batch of documents related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee. The records, which include schedules and logs from Epstein's estate, indicate a tentative plan for Musk to visit Epstein's private island in December 2014. One entry specifically noted, "Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)."
Musk has vehemently denied any visit to the island, responding to the reports with a direct statement on X, "This is false." The mention of Musk in these documents comes after he has publicly advocated for the full release of all Epstein-related files, previously criticizing the Trump administration for not doing so. The tweet from Adam Lowisz, which sparked this discussion, questioned the allegations by stating, "> I'm seeing Democrats make more lies about Elon. Ask yourself, if Elon was on Epstein Island then why was Elon demanding the Epstein list be released. Make it make sense!"
The newly released documents, which also mention other high-profile figures such as Prince Andrew, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon, do not suggest that those named were aware of Epstein's criminal activities. These records are part of an ongoing effort by Congressional Democrats to shed light on Epstein's network of connections. Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for the Oversight Committee Democrats, emphasized that "Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims."
Musk's past calls for transparency regarding the Epstein files have been well-documented. In July, he questioned, "How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?" This stance highlights a consistent demand from the billionaire for public disclosure of information surrounding Epstein's associates. The broader context includes the unsealing of hundreds of court documents in January 2024, which identified numerous individuals connected to Epstein and his co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.
The release of these latest documents by the House Oversight Committee adds to the public's understanding of Epstein's extensive network. While the documents indicate a planned invitation for Musk, his denial and previous demands for the full release of Epstein's records underscore the complex and often contradictory narratives surrounding the case. The ongoing investigations continue to reveal new details, fueling public debate and calls for accountability.
