Eugene, Oregon – Federal law enforcement officers, including personnel from the Federal Protective Service (FPS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Special Response Team (SRT), detained an individual during an anti-ICE protest at the federal building in Eugene on September 24, 2025. The incident occurred amidst ongoing demonstrations against federal immigration policies.

According to a tweet by Katie Daviscourt, "Another Antifa militant has been arrested by ICE SRT and FPS officers at the attempted siege of the federal building in Eugene, Oregon." Local reports from KLCC detailed a protest that began in the afternoon, where activists, some masked, taunted employees, wrote anti-ICE messages, and reportedly threw objects.

Federal Protective Service agents are responsible for the security of federal buildings and their occupants. They often receive support from other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) components, including ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), through cross-designation during protests or high-risk situations. ICE SRTs are tactical units trained for high-risk operations, including arrests and security for national security events.

The protest escalated when masked law enforcement officers emerged, corralling the crowd and detaining individuals. One protester described officers "pretty much attacked one of our peaceful protesters" after following them around the block. Eugene Police Department, while monitoring the scene, reported protesters throwing objects at FPS agents and damaging federal property, though KLCC could not immediately confirm the latter.

This event is part of a broader pattern of contentious protests at federal facilities, particularly those housing ICE offices, across the nation. Similar confrontations involving federal agents, protesters, and local law enforcement have been reported in Portland, New York, and Chicago, often leading to arrests and the use of crowd control measures.
