Sacramento, CA – Authorities have arrested 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez Santana in connection with a shooting incident at KXTV, the local ABC affiliate known as ABC10, where three shots were fired into a window. The arrest occurred after a protest was held at the station a day prior, reportedly in response to ABC pulling Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show off air over comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Santana faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, negligent discharge of a firearm, and shooting into an occupied building, according to Sacramento police. He was held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on $200,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 23.

The shooting, which police described as a drive-by, occurred on Friday afternoon, with reports made around 1:30 p.m. local time. While the building was occupied at the time, all employees of ABC10 were reported safe and unharmed, as confirmed by Tegna, the media company owning the station.

The protest preceding the shooting was not taking place at the time of the incident, but it highlighted public tensions surrounding the network's decision regarding Jimmy Kimmel. California Governor Gavin Newsom commented on the event, stating, "While no injuries have been reported, any act of violence toward journalists is an attack on our democracy itself and must be condemned in the strongest terms."

The FBI is assisting the Sacramento Police Department in the ongoing investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting and whether the station had received any prior threats. Police are also reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing employees to piece together a comprehensive timeline of events.
