Vice President JD Vance recently delivered a sharp critique of former Vice President Kamala Harris, stating that listening to her for a brief period made him feel "dumber in the process." The remarks were made during an interview on Fox News' "The Ingraham Angle," where Vance discussed Harris's new memoir and her 2024 presidential campaign.
Vance's comments were in response to Harris's memoir, "107 Days," which details her abbreviated 2024 presidential bid following President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race. Harris reportedly attributed her campaign's outcome to its short duration, a claim that Vance directly challenged during the interview.
"I listened to Kamala Harris for 90 seconds, and I actually feel like I’ve gotten dumber in the process, and I have no idea what she actually believes," Vance stated. He argued that the problem was not the brevity of her campaign, but rather its length, suggesting that "when people actually listened to what she had to say, her polling went down and down and down."
The Vice President contrasted Harris with previous Democratic leaders, including former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, asserting that they "actually had substance" and could "articulate a viewpoint." Vance maintained that Harris's messaging lacked substance, a factor he believes contributed to her performance in the 2024 election where Donald Trump secured 312 electoral votes to Harris's 226.
Vance concluded by warning that Harris's political challenges would persist unless she develops and clearly communicates a consistent viewpoint to the American public. His remarks highlight ongoing political tensions and differing perspectives on the effectiveness of political communication in the current landscape.
