Andrew Kang, co-founder of Mechanism Capital and CEO of RoboStrategy, recently called for significant investment in the burgeoning robotics sector during the Conference on Robot Learning (CoRL) 2025 in Seoul, Korea. Kang emphasized the need to "fund the next wave of Robotics companies!" as his firm, RoboStrategy, co-led a $68 million Series A funding round for Dyna Robotics. This strategic move underscores Kang's belief in general-purpose humanoid robots as a potential "trillion-dollar" market opportunity.
Kang has been a vocal proponent of robotics, predicting that 2026 will be "the year of humanoid robots" and 2027 will see "human-AI integration." He views the current state of humanoid robotics as akin to Bitcoin in 2013, suggesting massive, asymmetrical returns for early investors. His firm's focus has shifted beyond cryptocurrency to embrace what he perceives as the next major technological platform.
The $68 million Series A co-led by RoboStrategy is part of a larger $120 million Series A funding round for Dyna Robotics, aimed at advancing robotic foundation models. Dyna Robotics is developing high-performance, general-purpose robots designed to operate autonomously in dynamic commercial environments. This substantial investment is intended to expand research and engineering teams, accelerating the development of next-generation physical AI.
Dyna's technology emphasizes self-supervision, real-time adaptation, and general world understanding, crucial for scalable manipulation systems. Co-founder York Yang noted the convergence of AI breakthroughs, accelerating hardware, and high labor demand as creating a "once-in-a-generation opportunity." Kang, speaking as CEO of RoboStrategy, affirmed, "Dyna’s team and mission bridge research excellence and real-world commercial applications."
This latest investment follows Kang's earlier commitment of $19 million in AI robot company Figure in February 2024. The growing interest in robotics is also reflected globally, with countries like China establishing significant funds, such as a 1 Trillion Yuan robotics fund. Such developments highlight a worldwide push to capitalize on the transformative potential of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence.
