San Francisco, CA – Anthropic, a prominent artificial intelligence research and development company, announced it has successfully closed a $13 billion Series F funding round, elevating its post-money valuation to an impressive $183 billion. This significant investment, led by ICONIQ Capital, marks a nearly threefold increase from its previous valuation of $61.5 billion in March 2025. The company stated the capital infusion is earmarked for expanding operational capacity, enhancing model capabilities, and advancing its crucial safety research initiatives.

The funding round saw co-leadership from Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from a diverse group of institutional investors including Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, Blackstone, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, General Atlantic, General Catalyst, GIC, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Qatar Investment Authority, TPG, T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc., WCM Investment Management, and XN. This broad investor base underscores strong market confidence in Anthropic's trajectory within the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI research executives, has demonstrated remarkable growth since the launch of its AI assistant, Claude, in March 2023. The company reported its run-rate revenue surged from approximately $1 billion at the beginning of 2025 to over $5 billion by August 2025, making it one of the fastest-growing technology companies in history. This growth is largely attributed to its expanding base of over 300,000 business customers and the success of products like Claude Code.

"This investment, led by @ICONIQCapital, will help us expand our capacity, improve model capabilities, and deepen our safety research," Anthropic stated in a tweet.

The company's Chief Financial Officer, Krishna Rao, highlighted the exponential demand across their customer base, stating, "This financing demonstrates investors’ extraordinary confidence in our financial performance and the strength of their collaboration with us to continue fueling our unprecedented growth." Divesh Makan, a Partner at ICONIQ, praised Anthropic's "exceptional trajectory, combining research excellence, technological leadership, and relentless focus on customers," emphasizing their belief in Anthropic's commitment to shaping the future of responsible AI.

The substantial capital injection positions Anthropic to intensify its competition with other leading AI firms, including OpenAI, which is reportedly valued at approximately $500 billion. Anthropic's continued focus on AI safety and its strategic expansion plans aim to solidify its position as a key player in the global artificial intelligence market.
