The investment values the German-American startup at an impressive $3.25 billion post-money, propelling its mission to advance frontier visual intelligence. Founded in 2024 by pioneers of latent diffusion and Stable Diffusion, Robin Rombach, Patrick Esser, and Andreas Blattmann, Black Forest Labs has rapidly become a leader in AI image generation. Its FLUX models are widely adopted, powering production workflows for millions of users and integrated into platforms by major partners such as Adobe, Canva, Meta, and Microsoft. The company's open models are recognized as leading text-to-image models on Hugging Face.
The substantial funding round also saw participation from a diverse group of investors, including a16z, NVIDIA, Northzone, Creandum, Earlybird VC, BroadLight Capital, General Catalyst, Temasek, Bain Capital Ventures, Air Street Capital, Visionaries Club, Canva, and Figma Ventures. This Series B brings Black Forest Labs' total funds raised to over $450 million, following a previously unannounced Series A round.
