Brantly Millegan, a prominent figure in the Ethereum ecosystem, has announced the release of a new "Profile tooltip" component for ethidkit
, the Ethereum Identity Kit. This new feature aims to streamline user interaction within Web3 applications by displaying Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and Ethereum Follow Protocol (EFP) profile cards upon hovering over an account. The announcement was made via Millegan's social media, highlighting the component's potential for widespread adoption.
The ethidkit
is designed as a comprehensive component library and API, enabling decentralized applications (dApps) to integrate various aspects of the Ethereum identity stack, including ENS and EFP. Millegan's work has consistently focused on enhancing Web3 identity, and this new component is a step towards making on-chain identities more discoverable and user-friendly.
The newly introduced Profile tooltip allows users to quickly access an account's associated ENS and EFP data without navigating away from their current view. "New component in @ethidkit: Profile tooltip! Hover over an account & their ENS/EFP profile card pops up. Every crypto app should have it, seems obvious once you use it," Millegan stated in the tweet, emphasizing its intuitive nature and advocating for its integration across the Web3 landscape. This functionality is expected to significantly improve the user experience by providing immediate context for on-chain interactions.
Alongside the Profile tooltip, ethidkit
has also rolled out several other components. These include a Profile list row, a full Profile list, and functionalities for Blocked/muted lists. These additions further bolster the kit's capabilities, offering developers a robust suite of tools to build more integrated and socially aware decentralized applications. The collective release underscores an ongoing effort to mature the infrastructure for digital identity in the Web3 space.
