Celestia core developers convened for their 37th call, focusing on critical progress for the upcoming Matcha network upgrade and the broader V6 timeline. The meeting, livestreamed on YouTube, saw several Celestia Improvement Proposals (CIPs) transition to final or last call status, signaling significant advancements in the modular blockchain's development roadmap.

During the call, developers confirmed that CIPs 39, 40, and 41 are progressing towards finalization, with their last call deadlines having passed. These CIPs are integral components of the Matcha network upgrade, which itself is now slated to move to a "last call" phase, indicating readiness for broader community review before full implementation. The Matcha upgrade is set to include CIPs 36 through 41.

A key discussion point revolved around the upcoming V6 upgrade, with developers outlining a timeline targeting its deployment on the Arabica testnet within the current week. The ambitious plan projects the V6 upgrade to reach the Celestia Mainnet Beta by the end of September, marking a crucial step in enhancing the network's capabilities.

The Matcha upgrade builds on a series of significant enhancements to the Celestia network, including the Shwap, Lemongrass, Ginger, and Lotus upgrades. These previous updates have collectively aimed to accelerate data availability sampling, reduce storage requirements, improve interoperability, and refine tokenomics, all contributing to Celestia's vision of scalable 1GB blocks for modular blockchains.

These continuous upgrades underscore Celestia's commitment to its modular architecture, enabling faster, more efficient, and cost-effective solutions for rollups and decentralized applications. The progress on Matcha and the V6 timeline are expected to further solidify Celestia's position as a foundational layer in the evolving Web3 ecosystem.
