Google's AI platform, Gemini, has announced a limited-time offer, significantly increasing video generation capabilities for its free, Pro, and Ultra tier users. The promotion, effective for the current weekend and concluding on August 24 at 10 PM PT, aims to provide expanded access to its AI-powered video creation features. This move comes as the platform continues to evolve its generative AI offerings.

According to a tweet from the official Google Gemini App account, "Good idea. Let’s double it for everyone." This initiative grants Gemini free users access to "up to 6 free video generations for the weekend," a notable offering as video generation was previously unavailable for this tier.

For paying subscribers, the increase is also substantial. Pro users, who typically have a daily limit of three video generations, will see their allowance "doubled to 6 per day for the weekend." Similarly, Ultra users, whose usual daily cap is five video generations, will find their "pack has doubled to 10 per day for the weekend." The tweet clarified that "Rates do not reset (so if you already used 3, you now have 3 more)," indicating an immediate increase in available generations.

Gemini's video generation leverages advanced models like Veo 3 and Veo 3 Fast, allowing users to create short, eight-second clips from text prompts, often with accompanying audio. The Pro plan primarily utilizes Veo 3 Fast, while the Ultra plan offers the highest level of access to the more advanced Veo 3 model, which includes features like sound generation. This temporary boost in generation capacity provides users across all tiers a greater opportunity to experiment with these cutting-edge AI tools.

The promotion underscores Google's ongoing efforts to enhance the value proposition of its Gemini platform and encourage broader engagement with its generative AI capabilities. The company has been steadily rolling out Veo 3 access to more regions and tiers since its initial debut at Google I/O 2025, with a focus on improving user experience and expanding creative possibilities.
