San Francisco, CA – Danielle Fong, the acclaimed scientist and entrepreneur, has announced the successful 3D printing of a new "orb" product, which will be available for sale at the Lightcell Energy Store. The announcement, made via her social media, highlights a significant milestone for her latest venture, Lightcell Energy, which is pioneering a novel light-powered engine technology.

"yes! our orb printed perfectly. it's my biggest print so far, and it uses so many of the tricks of the periodic and toroidal geometry i have been learning. we'll be able to offer this for sale at the lightcell energy store, along with the hyperamerica flag, and some other cool," Fong stated in a recent tweet.

The "orb" product is intrinsically linked to Lightcell Energy's core innovation: a light-powered engine that utilizes a unique thermodynamic cycle. This system combusts fuel to generate high-temperature heat, which then excites a sodium illuminant to produce intense, nearly monochromatic light. This light is subsequently converted into electricity, potentially through specialized solar panels.

Lightcell Energy, founded by Fong in August 2022, aims to address the demand for compact, high-performance energy sources. The technology promises significant advantages in energy and power density, leveraging the inherent energy density of liquid fuels, which can be orders of magnitude greater than traditional batteries. This approach offers a potential solution for portable power applications.

Fong, who previously co-founded LightSail Energy, a company focused on compressed air energy storage, has a history of innovation in the energy sector. LightSail Energy, while raising over $70 million, ultimately ceased operations in 2018. Her new endeavor, Lightcell Energy, marks a strategic pivot towards a different high-density energy solution.

The development of the "orb" product and its underlying technology underscores a broader industry trend towards diverse energy storage and generation solutions beyond conventional batteries. Lightcell Energy's focus on a light-powered engine represents a bold step in the quest for efficient and portable power, aiming to unlock new possibilities for various applications.
