OpenAI has significantly broadened the accessibility of its collaborative "Shared Projects" feature, making it available to all ChatGPT users across Free, Plus, Pro, and Go plans. This strategic move aims to enhance teamwork and streamline workflows within the AI platform, enabling users to work together more effectively on various initiatives. As Derya Unutmaz, MD, highlighted in a recent social media post, this is "A super useful feature if you’re working with others on ChatGPT projects!"

The Shared Projects functionality allows multiple users to collaborate within ChatGPT by sharing chats, files, and instructions in a unified workspace. This ensures that all team members remain on the same page, with ChatGPT leveraging the collective context to tailor its responses and maintain consistency across tasks. The feature supports various use cases, from coordinating client work and drafting proposals to creating consistent content and generating reports.

Users can invite teammates with either "chat" or "edit" access, providing flexible control over contributions. While Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans previously had access, the expansion now brings these capabilities to a wider audience, albeit with specific limits based on the subscription tier. For instance, Free users can collaborate on up to 5 files with 5 collaborators, while Pro users can manage up to 40 files with up to 100 collaborators.

In conjunction with Shared Projects, OpenAI has also rolled out "Connectors," which integrate ChatGPT with popular workplace tools like Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and SharePoint. These connectors enable ChatGPT to pull relevant information directly from these applications, providing more accurate and context-aware responses. Enhanced compliance features, including ISO certifications and expanded SOC 2 reports, further bolster data security for business users.

This expansion underscores OpenAI's commitment to transforming ChatGPT into a comprehensive productivity tool for teams and organizations. By fostering a more collaborative environment and integrating with existing workflows, the company aims to reduce the "work around work" and make AI an indispensable part of daily operations, driving greater efficiency and innovation.
