San Francisco – Particle News, the AI-powered news application, has announced a strategic partnership with The Atlantic, a renowned publisher known for its narrative-driven journalism. The collaboration will introduce a new "Long Reads" feature within the Particle app, designed to offer users more in-depth content beyond its signature summarized news. This development was shared by Sara Beykpour, Co-founder and CEO of Particle, via a recent tweet.
"📰 📣 @particle_news is announcing a partnership with @TheAtlantic! We love The Atlantic's in-depth, narrative-driven journalism and we're excited to bring this content into Particle's app. We are also announcing an upcoming feature: Long Reads, coming to Particle soon," Beykpour stated in the social media post.
The "Long Reads" feature aims to integrate The Atlantic's extensive articles directly into Particle's personalized newsfeeds, allowing users to delve deeper into topics. This move signifies an expansion for Particle, which launched in November 2024 and quickly rose to prominence by using artificial intelligence to distill news into concise summaries. Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic, emphasized the mutual benefit, noting that the partnership provides "new and innovative ways to share our journalism" and reach new readers.
Particle, founded by former Twitter engineers Sara Beykpour and Marcel Molina, operates with a mission to help users "understand more, faster," while also aiming to create sustainable models for publishers in the AI era. The company seeks to provide a multi-perspective view of stories by aggregating content from various sources and prominently linking back to original articles, ensuring traffic is driven to publishers. This approach aligns with their goal of empowering both readers and content creators.
The news app recently secured $10.9 million in Series A funding, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Axel Springer, Kindred Ventures, and other notable investors including Ev Williams and Scott Belsky. This latest round brings Particle's total funding to $15.3 million, underscoring investor confidence in its AI-driven model and its commitment to fostering collaborative relationships within the news industry. The funds are slated for team expansion, strengthening publisher partnerships, and further product development, including features like "Long Reads."
